On another note to go with my news about WarGames it looks like Dicaprio’s production company is somewhat behind this. They are looking to gain the rights to remake the movie. Maybe he’s having a midlife crisis and trying to relive his childhood. Most guys would just buy a car but I guess if you have the money you might as well go after your favorite films. Wonder if he will star in any of them.
If at first you don’t succeed, Try, try again.

Icelebz.com – Kiefer Sutherland was so drunk at Elton John’s Oscar party he made obscene gestures at Slash.
The “24″ star – who checked into rehab after serving 48 days in jail in 2007 for driving under the influence (DUI) – reportedly spent the evening drinking whisky and coke and swearing loudly at guests including the former Guns N’ Roses guitarist.
Kiefer was seen staggering out of the exclusive bash at West Hollywood’s Pacific Design Center just after midnight on Sunday.
Hours later, the 36-year-old actor was drinking whiskey cocktails at Manhattan bar Peter Dillon’s. He was reportedly quiet and friendly at first, but was soon “wasted” and starting fights.

Cele|bitchy.com – “24″ star Kiefer Sutherland’s battle with alcohol seems to be escalating again. Last year, Sutherland served time behind bars on a DUI charge, adding yet another chapter to his longtime struggle with sobriety. He kept a low profile for a while after his release, focusing mostly on shooting the new season of 24. But since his move to New York City in November of last year, the star has been spotted hitting the bottle pretty heavily in seedy bars all over NYC. Most recently, Sutherland was downing whiskey at a bar in Manhattan and getting into a shoving match.

Just because everyone else is doing it. Plus I need a post for today.

Great Gods of Kobol! Universal in talks to bring Battlestar Galactica to the Big Screen. And not what you think either..Frak!
21st February 2009
Hollywood Reporter – Universal has quietly entered into negotiations with Glen A. Larson to write and produce a big-screen version of the property he created.
“Battlestar,” which originally aired on ABC in 1978, was produced in the wake of the success of “Star Wars,” which caused a sci-fi revival in popular culture. The premise involved a human civilization living on a series of 12 planets that are decimated from an attack by intelligent robots known as Cylons. The survivors are led by a starship called Galactica in their attempt to find a mythic 13th planet named Earth.
The Sci Fi series, under the direction of executive producer Ronald Moore, took the premise and ran with it, incorporating the politics of war, religion, torture and destiny, becoming the channel’s signature series.
The movie effort would have no connection to the series and would relaunch the story in a new medium. However, staples such as the characters Adama, Starbuck, and Baltar will remain.
Larson was one of the biggest names in 1970s and ’80s TV and creator of shows like “Switch” and “Magnum P.I.”
Universal had no comment.

So again Hollywood with it’s complete lack of creativity and imagination have (from some reports) started looking into remaking, or what they like to call ‘reboot’, the 80s thriller WarGames.
This classic that starred Matthew Broderick (now possibly cast with DiCaprio) and the ever game playing world ending WOPR is somehow going to be remade and relate to people today? I’m sorry but in the 80s Global Thermonuclear War
was much more a reality than today and I’m not sure how a crappy economy and terrorist are going to fit in that world.
Well all I know is I will not be seeing this in the theater nor would I even download it from a torrent (not that I would ever download movies). I almost wish they would just re release the original so we could enjoy it on the big screen. Maybe remastered all digital like.
The Rise and fall of the drive-in movie theater:
16th February 2009

SlashFilm.com – Sometime in the 1970s, my older cousin and her husband took me and a neighbor girl to a drive-in theater in Texas, and I still remember how amazing it was to be watching a movie from the back of a station wagon. I mean, you’re sitting there in a car, watching a movie and listening to the audio over a speaker. As a kid, it was about one of the coolest things ever. Nowadays you have cars with built-in DVD players, video game systems, and LCD flatscreens, but nothing really beats the experience of going to the good old drive-in.
I can remember my first drive-in. I think I was 15 on a family trip in New Mexico or somewhere like that. It was next to our motel and we sat and watched it on a picnic table eating watermelon. Or at least that’s how I remember it. I think the movie was Jurassic Park. I wonder if they will make a comeback.
