Wentworth Miller in the new Resident Evil movie? I think So!
22nd September 2009
io9 – Milla Jovovich just got some end-of-the-world eye-candy competition. Wentworth Miller has joined the next Resident Evil film, but the Prison Break star is still stuck in jail in LA… which has been burning for three years.
In an interview with Black Film new cast member Bodjoe Kodjoe talked about his latest role in the next in the long line of Umbrella Corp films. Sadly there is no mention of the cloned Alice army, but he does reveal that the movie takes place in LA:
Boris Kodjoe: : I play the leader of the survivors in LA. Milla Jovovich’s character, Alice, is roaming the world looking for survivors and she’s wound up in LA, which has been burning for three years. She comes across an LA jail surrounded be these half-dead, uhh…[zombies]. Yeah, they’re those monsters, what are they called? Anyway, she comes across the jail and there’s a couple of survivors and she lands on top of the roof and partners up with me to fight the guys that are coming after them. We’re trying to get all of the survivors out of the jail to safety. We’re starting next week, actually.
He goes on to reveal that Ali Larter will also be returning and Miller’s new role is someone who already was in prison when everything went down.
Twilight has doomed us all
21st September 2009
Filmdrunk – “Twilight has doomed us all” was the caption to this screencap over at The Daily What. It’s not wrong, but let’s be honest, this represents at least 10 reasons why we’re doomed before Twilight even enters the picture. For instance, the number two goal behind vampire is model. And apparently, being a pharmacist is far more popular than being a doctor. I don’t even know what a pharmacist does other than make you wait 20 minutes for stuff. Additionally, it seems a lot of people are really curious about becoming anorexic. Relax, fatty, there’s no entrance exam.
Now the music industry wants royalties for the 30 second preview clips on iTunes. Next up, being charged for having a song stuck in your head.
17th September 2009
Gizmodo – Music royalty groups ASCAP and BMI are harassing online music stores such as iTunes to pay performance fees not only for the songs that they sell, but for the short clips that they use as previews. You know, the things that entice people to pay for music. They want to be paid for advertisements for their product.
Just how backwards is this industry? How many years can they continue to just not get it in such an extreme way? You would have thought that maybe it would have taken a few years for them to figure out the internet, but we’re way beyond that. This entire industry seems to be run by people who don’t just not understand the internet, but are aggressive about not understanding the internet. They have their old way of doing business and the old way the world works, and they’ll be damned if any new fangled thing like a complete upheaval in the way people acquire and listen to music is going to change that.
TMZ has audio of Obama calling Kanye and ‘Jackass’. FTW
15th September 2009
TMZ – TMZ has obtained the audiotape of President Barack Obama calling Kanye West a “jackass” for hijacking Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech during the VMAs.
The audio was recorded just before Obama went on camera to do an interview with CNBC. Before the interview began, Obama — referring to Kanye’s antics on stage — said “I thought that was really inappropriate,” then adding, “He’s a jackass.”
After making the remarks, Obama said “Where’s the pool?” Presumably, he was worried the joke would go wide. He noted the last time that happened, he got burned for killing a fly.
Obama said, “Cut the President some slack.”
After last nights VMA’s the boycott of Kanye West is on. And it’s about time.

Jennifer Aniston says she’s taking a break from acting, which is odd because there’s no evidence she ever started.
11th September 2009
Fox News – After wrapping production on “The Bounty” alongside Gerard Butler just last week, Jennifer Aniston is back in Hollywood promoting her new romantic flick “Love Happens” before taking some much needed rest away from the lights and action.
“I’m going to go on an adventure, take myself somewhere. I won’t start another job until at least January,” Aniston told FOXNews.com. “I want to take time off. I’m going to throw myself into ‘Echo’ (her production company) and just keep plugging away.”
Looks like Ellen is the new American Idol.
10th September 2009
TMZ – Ellen DeGeneres made a plea to “Idol” nation today — telling fans not to blame her for Paula Abdul’s departure from the show.
An excited Ellen called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” this morning, where she said she doesn’t want people to think she’s “evil” for taking Paula’s job.
Though Paula has yet to comment on the switch, Ellen also said, “I hope Paula is okay with it.”
Calm down, people. The Disney/Marvel deal does not mean Miley Cyrus is starring in Iron Man 2. Probably

The Examiner – This is the first part of a three-part series. Check back here tomorrow for part 2, and Thursday for part 3.
I don’t know if you heard this or not, but something kind of major happened yesterday. One of the largest media companies in the world announced the acquisition of the largest comic book company in North America. Maybe you read about it.
Yesterday I posted a “Breaking the Internet in half” column discussing some of the knee-jerk comments that popped up after the announcement. I’m revisiting the issue because the comments haven’t gotten any better in the past 24 hours. Some folks have taken a step back to really start thinking about the long-term ramifications of the acquisition, but there are others that are like this, which I just read, and responded to, from Newsarama:
“This is all just terrible. Disney is a souless company that eats up younger more vibrant creative companies… This merger is just terrible. It will come back to bite Marvel, and the industry, over the next few years.”
“This was a money decision. And a bad one. Probably the worst. Marvel has had the best few years of it’s [sic] life.”
Today and tomorrow, I’d like to examine in more detail both extremes of the comments, and inject a little common sense. On Thursday, I’m going to go into more detail into an aspect of the story that isn’t getting enough examination, and one that may end up being the most important.
